Eastside cheers Wildcats to victory

Fans cheer “East!” “Side!” “East!” “Side!” as the bright lights of a football game illuminate the scene.

Eastside is a club that cheers on athletes, attends games and generally tries to foster school spirit. Their members lead the student body, which is also referred to as Eastside, in cheers at athletic games. Eastside also announces events through the PA and their Instagram account, eastside.nation.

“[Eastside] gets people involved in other things outside of school,” senior Ryan Levy said.
“It makes people excited about what’s going on with peers,” senior Riley Wernoski chimed in.

Eastside members cheer on all sorts of sports, from fall to spring seasons. Members of Eastside leadership, Wernoski and Levy say that football and volleyball tend to be the main sports during the fall, but that Eastside goes to all sports, including a field hockey game Pink-Out for Breast Cancer Awareness Oct. 1.

“There’s nothing better than filling out a student section for a Friday night football game,” Levy said.

Eastside often organizes a theme for games, especially in football, such as a “Rave” game where fans wore neon for the Sep. 13 game against Bartlett Yancey.

“We are always hype,” senior Mason Hudnall says. “ Even though we may be down sometimes, we are always hype.”
