This Wednesday, Principal Ken Proulx made an announcement on the loudspeaker.
“Our school will implement a school improvement plan to assure that students can no longer take more than three AP classes during one adacemic year. That is all.”
As expected, East Chapel Hill High students are in uproar.
“We’ve decided to do this for a multitude of reasons,” Prouxl said. “We want our students to be stressed as much as possible, so it was imperative that we ensure they couldn’t bring it upon themselves.”
314 ECHHS sent out an email detailing how they would implement this:
- Students have always had the expectation that taking more then three AP classes per year was not allowed. This has always been a requirement and as such, must be enforced.
- Students will therefore only be allowed to take six AP classes between junior and senior year and one AP class sophmore year.
- Students – please make sure you are just taking classes that will give you the highest GPA and/or let you graduate early
- We want our students here at Chapel Hill High to be happy, healthy adn successful. We want o support our student’s mental health.
“When I received the email, I was just shocked,” junior Alessandra Powell said. “I couldn’t believe it, quite frankly. I felt like my whole world was crumbling.”
Later, Proulx announced over the loudspeaker that this new plan will implement this plan October 4, 2020. He added a roar, praising East students for their complacency.
“When he made that last announcement, I was just so confused on what is supposed to be going on,” Powell said. “Is this plan for our school, or Chapel Hill High? Are we allowed to take AP classes, or are we not? I feel like everyone has said different things.”
Proulx has made no further announcements.
